Work Controller - L/Derry - NI Water

This role will deliver a central service for NI Water during both core and non-core working hours, enabling preventative actions to avoid or minimise impact on our customers, colleagues, and assets.

As a Work Controller, you will drive resolution for customers by handling telephone enquiries and using key systems to enhance customer service delivery. By optimising and managing key work activities across operational teams, you will directly contribute to the achievement of NI Water’s customer satisfaction, regulatory, and environmental targets.

About the role:
  • £15.71 per hour
  • Location: Gelvin Grange, Altnagelvin, L/Derry
  • Hours of work: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday
  • Working pattern: Between 07:30 to 16:30 each day. Participation in an on-call rota for emergencies.
  • Temporary position for up to 6 months
  • Application deadline: Friday 4th July 2025 at 12 Noon
Duties include:
  • Control the assignment, scheduling, dispatch, and closure of work to NI Water staff and contractors
  • Interpret data from all available systems and customers to recognize real-time events early
  • Evaluate, analyse, and accurately update information on systems, supporting data integrity and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with Intelligent Operations and Production Lines colleagues
  • Extract and present data clearly and concisely
  • Maintain and improve process documents
  • Ensure compliance with NI Water Health and Safety standards
Criteria:
  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs Grade C or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent, plus 1 year of experience in a customer-centric/operational role involving data analysis
  • OR two years’ experience in a customer-centric role involving data analysis
  • Effective communication skills across diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative
  • Transport availability to attend work at short notice, including during on-call hours
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to undertake a Standard AccessNI Disclosure; having a criminal record does not necessarily disqualify
