Our Global Wordings Services team has an exciting opportunity to join them as a Wordings Manager. You will be an integral part of the team supporting the underwriting business across all product lines covering a wide variety of complex risks. You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your technical drafting skills and advisory services to the underwriters, their clients, and brokers in order to provide a service differentiator for AXA XL. This role requires a high standard of strategic leadership, technical, collaborative skills, and a willingness to seek continual process improvement opportunities.

Essential Responsibilities
  1. Teamwork – collaborating with colleagues across the Wordings team, the wider Legal Department and beyond in order to deliver on team objectives and service delivery requirements.
  2. Governance and Contracts Certainty - ensure contract certainty and adhere to governance principles in reviewing, managing, and advising on contractual terms.
  3. Leadership - responsible for coaching, developing, and motivating direct reports and junior members of the team.
  4. Role models by setting a high bar for performance, engagement, and commitment.
  5. Analysing – reviewing existing products and those of competitors, focusing on delivering commercial solutions.
  6. Collaboration – working closely with key stakeholders to build new insurance products and refine existing ones.
  7. Technology – embrace new technologies and seek improvement opportunities for contract management systems.
  8. Training and Development – developing team colleagues and sharing best practice solutions.
  9. Oversight of wordings instructions from various lines of business.
  10. Assisting the Head of Wordings with setting the goals and strategic direction of the Wordings Team.
  11. Project managing team-specific projects and assisting with company-wide projects.
  12. Analytical and critical thinking, technical proficiency of the underwriting, robust interpersonal skills.
Required Skills and Abilities
  1. Ability to think creatively and provide practical wordings solutions.
  2. Ability to interrogate and explore complex concepts relevant to policy coverage.
  3. Ability to communicate ideas simply, both in writing and face to face.
  4. Comprehensive understanding of insurance law concepts.
  5. First class drafting skills in English.
  6. Understanding of how insurance products are constructed and perform in the real world.
  7. Logical and methodical approach.
Desirable Experience
  1. Leading projects and taking responsibility for colleague performance and development.
  2. Specialty lines products, high product risk business, and delegated authority business.
  3. Use of contract analytics technology tools and proficiency in MS applications.
  4. Gravitas and technical expertise to serve on recognized London market wordings committees.

You will report to the Head of Global Wordings.
