Woodwork Manufacturing Operative Apprentice
Full Time, 40 hours per week: 0745-1700hrs Mon to Thurs and 0745 – 1245hrs Friday
£320 per week plus Timekeeping Bonus (up to £40)
Full training will be given

Choice Interiors are bespoke cabinet makers, creating beautiful kitchens, bedroom cabinetry and other custom furniture. Established in 1987, we are renowned for our personal service, design skills and craftsmanship. Each cabinet is custom made and individually constructed by skilled craftsmen, who combine time honoured methods with the highest quality materials to produce kitchens and freestanding furniture which are unsurpassed in quality, design and attention to detail.
This is an exciting opportunity with real long-term progression prospects. We are looking for a dexterous, ambitious and creative Apprentice to start the journey to oversee the creation of cabinetry from start to finish. As our Apprentice you will be mentored to become responsible for hand-picking the most suitable materials, constructing the cabinets, and then applying appropriate finishes.
You will also be trained and mentored to adherence to our stylistic and technical requirements at all times, ultimately being able to create cabinetry from a variety of traditional and contemporary materials, including wood, laminate, MDF and MFC, also be responsible for applying decorative elements as reqd.
As an Apprentice, you should be able to engage in additional and/or physical work tasks for extended periods of time. Job progression may include you attending customer sites (usually homes) to assist in the planning and designing of projects. Eventually you will support and suggest additions to our bespoke portfolio and improvements to workflow, with the consequent goal of facilitating our company’s growth.
Below is an idea but not limited to the requirements of the role.
Cabinet Maker Responsibilities:
·Ability to follow technical drawings, listings and instructions.
·To Select appropriate materials, fittings, and tools for each task.
·Cut resources down to size, accurately and as needed.
·Create standard and customised components of/for cabinets.
·Gather the elements of each cabinet for assembling the final product.
·Apply sealant, varnish, and paint to cabinets, if required.
·Inspect each completed item to ensure that it has been constructed accurately, and that the necessary finishes have been applied. Escalate any quality issues spotted.
·Repair elements of cabinets that have been incorrectly made or returned for remedial works.
·Wear the requisite PPE and take necessary precautions to remain safe.
·Advise on any specialist or appropriate care for finished products upon request.
·Attend Site as reqd.
Apprentice Cabinet Maker Requirements:
·Punctual and well-presented
·Completion of a training program or apprenticeship.
·Prior experience (or interest), with examples or a portfolio of completed projects ideal.
·The ability to visualise spaces to then create appropriate furniture/good spatial awareness.
·Physical strength/manual dexterity/good hand-eye co-ordination – practical skills to work with hand tools, power tools and machinery
·Good level of mobility required due to the physical nature of the job and the site setup
·Good level of literacy, numeracy and computer literacy.
·Excellent teamwork and customer service skills.
·Attention to detail.
·Driving licence desirable (or plans to learn to drive)
·Ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing workmanship.
·Ability to work under instruction, listen, take guidance and an overall willingness to learn
·Basic awareness of relevant Health & Safety requirements
·Flexibility and willingness to perform additional tasks and duties as required/take initiative in regard to ensuring good housekeeping in the workplace.
·Positive mental attitude.
·Represent the Company in a positive and professional manner at all times and particularly when Client facing.
