Job summary

Shropshire Wildlife Trust seeks a Woodland Advisor for the Severn Treescapes project in Shropshire. You will advise farmers and landholders on woodland and agroforestry, identify planting opportunities and help access public and private funding.

The role involves site visits, surveys, management plans and coordinating funding applications, with a focus on delivering nature-friendly outcomes alongside farm businesses. A UK driving licence and travel are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in forestry, agriculture or related countryside discipline or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong organisational abilities.
• Driver licence and willingness to travel within the region.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist advice on woodland creation, agroforestry and tree planting.
• Undertake site visits, surveys and prepare management plans.
• Assist landowners with applications to EWCO, Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier agroforestry and related schemes.
• Manage contractors, oversee habitat creation and engage volunteers where appropriate.
• Coordinate events, monitor budgets and reporting to meet funding objectives.
