Job Description:

Womenswear Designer - Formalwear

Our client is a British multiproduct brand who focus on heritage inspired smart product, offering a sophisticated womenswear collection that blends timeless tailoring with contemporary design, catering to both professional and casual wardrobes.

We are looking for a creative and highly organised Formal Womenswear Designer to join the design team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the evolution of the womenswear collections across key product areas including shirting, tailoring, outerwear, and smart formalwear.

As a key member of the design team, you will be involved in the full product lifecycle—from research and concept development to final product execution—ensuring collections reflect both the brand’s heritage and modern sensibilities, with a focus on sophistication, fit, and functionality for the modern woman.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop seasonal womenswear collections across formalwear, shirting, tailoring, outerwear, and smart casualwear, in collaboration with the Head of Design.
  • Conduct market and trend research to inform range planning, including fabric, trim, colour, and silhouette inspiration.
  • Perform regular competitor and high street analysis to identify opportunities for innovation and ensure commercial relevance.
  • Create detailed CADs and technical design packs for internal teams and external suppliers, maintaining consistency and quality across ranges.
  • Maintain and update visual range plans for internal use and third-party presentations.
  • Participate in fit sessions and collaborate closely with the technical team to refine garment fit, construction, and sizing for womenswear.
  • Liaise effectively with suppliers and internal departments to ensure timely and accurate product development.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Fashion Design, Textile Design, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in formal or smart womenswear design, with a strong commercial and creative portfolio.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop), with strong CAD drawing and presentation skills.
  • Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
  • Proactive, collaborative, and passionate about high-quality, design-led womenswear.

In this role, you’ll be part of a dynamic and passionate team committed to design excellence and premium craftsmanship. You will have the opportunity to shape the direction of a respected heritage brand’s womenswear offering while honouring its legacy of timeless style and innovation.

This role is based full-time from our client’s office in Central London.
