Job overview

You will be part of the Administration Team within Community Midwifery, supporting Community Midwives, Managers, and Matron to ensure smooth service operation. You will handle communication with patients, visitors, and staff, performing administrative duties that support the efficient functioning of the Maternity Service.

This role requires strong computer skills, data management, and involvement in audits. The position is based at Basildon Hospital, with potential cross-site working within MSE.

Main duties of the job
  • Perform high-level computer and data management tasks, including audits.
  • Support with updating and maintaining information leaflets and inputting data for reports under clinical leads' guidance.
  • Provide accurate information about Community Midwifery services and direct staff and stakeholders accordingly.
  • Maintain excellent communication with women, families, and multidisciplinary team members.
  • Confirm and update patient demographics in Medway and other electronic systems.
  • Assist with antenatal referrals, appointment bookings, blood tests, and newborn screening appointments.
  • Support team efforts to meet targets and objectives.
  • Report patient care incidents appropriately.
  • Take minutes and support team meetings.
  • Undertake general administrative duties as needed.

Person specification
Qualifications
  • GCSE grade C or equivalent.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Excel and report generation.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experience working within NHS data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • Recognized computer qualifications are desirable.
Knowledge and experience
  • Experience with patient administration systems (EPR) and Maternity Medway or similar.
  • Previous clerical or receptionist experience.
