Job summary

Renfrewshire Council’s Children’s Services Social Work is seeking an Domestic Abuse Co-ordinator (Women) for a temporary, full-time role. You will lead a therapeutic groupwork programme for mothers and children affected by domestic abuse and contribute to accredited programmes addressing abuse by male perpetrators.

You will also support training for facilitators and engage with multi-agency partners. You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, with responsibilities to identify participants,

Qualifications

• Professional qualification in social work or related field is essential.
• Post-qualifying training in domestic and/or sexual abuse awareness required.
• Child protection training is advantageous.
• Experience with women and children is essential.
• Experience in delivering staff training and managing resources is desirable.
• Understanding gendered analysis of domestic abuse and its impact.
• Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding policies recommended.
• Strong organisational, report writing, presentation and IT skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with children, young people and mothers.
• Commitment to inclusive practice and working with diverse communities.
• Able to work to deadlines with occasional evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and delivery of a therapeutic groupwork programme for mothers and children.
• Contribute to accredited programmes addressing abuse by men who perpetrate.
• Identify participants for groupwork and provide support.
• Deliver staff training and awareness activities for multi-agency partners.
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team with health and education services.
• Provide individual support to women and children as required.
