Job description

This post involves the day-to-day management of Women and Children's medical staffing rotas, ensuring the appropriate levels of staff and clinical safety are maintained at all times. The post requires an individual with excellent planning and organisational skills. The successful candidate will work closely with Clinical Directors, Consultants, the Senior Management team, and the Medical People Services Department to support these busy departments.

The postholder should be proficient in Microsoft Office, with excellent attention to detail, and be a great communicator. The post holder will work in close liaison with Medical People Services to review and implement processes that improve the efficiency of locum booking, reduce Trust spend, increase patient safety, and minimize errors.

Main duties of the job
  • Act as a point of contact for all teams regarding medical staffing vacancies, both short and long term.
  • Review unexpected absences daily and find solutions to ensure rota gaps are mitigated, escalating issues to the senior Operational Team if unresolved.
  • Arrange locum cover for doctors.
  • Liaise with Agile when urgent cover is needed, negotiating hours with medical staff and consulting relevant personnel.
  • Collaborate with Agile, consultants, and medical teams to fill temporary vacancies and identify long-term solutions for rota gaps.
  • Establish and maintain effective administrative systems between Medical People Services, HR, and payroll.
  • Coordinate with Medical Staffing on the progress of vacant posts, investigating delays and seeking resolutions.
  • Maintain clear communication with consultants regarding rota issues.
