Job summary

A local hockey club is seeking a dedicated Junior Head Coach to lead training sessions for young players aged U8 to U16 in Wolverhampton. The successful applicant will develop the training program, mentor volunteer coaches, and ensure effective transitions for junior players into senior hockey. Candidates should possess a UKCC level 1 coaching qualification, a First Aid Certificate, and experience in coaching with strong interpersonal skills. Wolverhampton and Tettenhall HC is looking to appoint dedicated person to the role of Junior Head Coach.

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead Sunday Junior training sessions for U8 to U16s across all abilities.
  • Develop the junior training and development programme.
  • Support others coaches and volunteer parent helpers by mentoring and sharing
    coaching plans and resources.
  • Implement the vision and practice for junior hockey.
  • Enhance the transition of juniors into senior hockey.
  • Provide positive input into the wholeclub.

This role is supported by a Junior Co-ordinator who will provide full admin support to ensure all pitches are booked, information shared via PitchHero and social media, umpires organised and tournaments entered.

There may also be opportunity to take mid-week coaching sessions for the older junior players.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Track record of successful positive coaching delivery
  • England Hockey UKCC level 1 or above coaching qualification
  • First Aid Certificate and Current DBS Certificate
  • Excellent people skillswith junior coaching experience
  • Knowledge of technical skills and tactical gameplay
