The Role
The Design Assistant will be reporting to the Head of PD and Production and the Designer, working closely with the Product Development team. This role will focus on the research and design of WNU’s growing multi product collections. You will be a confident user of Adobe suite and Indesign, passionate about sustainable fabrics and trims, bringing research and product ideas to the team as you support the lead Designer. You will have a strong design identity and taste level that aligns with the WNU brand vision.
Responsibilities and Duties
Support the designer to research and develop into new season mood boards, colour palettes, key shapes, trims and fabrications
Compile trend, industry and sustainability research. Following direction from designer and Head of department to research opportunities iin new fabric, trim and shape sourcing
Document and organise all fabric hangers and trims into relevant libraries
Carry out research work to build out WNU sustainable raw materials, working to ensure WNU stays aligned to sustainability targets
Organise and log all WNU development samples, managing the studio equipment ensuring it is tidy and well organised
Build and maintain the accuracy of design wall and folders, physical and digital
Create all seasonal CADs and add required details to tech packs before handover to Product Developer
Organising fit meetings when required and maintain fit comments/ style changes on tech packs and CADs
Contribute to overall brand imagery if/when required
Skills and experience required:
Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field
Professional experience in a similar role within a premium/luxury environment
Awareness of garment construction, pattern cutting, fabrications and production processes
High proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
Clear and confident communication skills internally and externally
Passionate about sustainability through design and aligned with WNU core values
Organised and methodical approach to keep design archives, fabric and trim samples up to date and tracked in the studio
Ability to work closely with production manager and product developer, keeping to deadlines
A positive attitude and a willingness to support cross functionally
Ability to travel to trade fairs, mills and factory sites when required
