Job description

Windows SME – Configuration Management Automation

Location: Remote (with travel to London ideally once a week)
Duration: 6 months Contract
Inside IR35
Rate: £550 per day

We are seeking a Windows SME to join a project team focused on automating configuration management across an enterprise estate. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an engineering mindset and strong knowledge of security hardening principles aligned with CIS industry benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Work as part of an engineering team to develop and deploy automated configuration management scanning across Windows, Linux, AWS, and Azure environments.
  2. Review and approve new security controls and whitelist amendments from corporate-approved CIS baselines.
  3. Develop automation and integrations for CIS baselines within GitHub where required.
  4. Collaborate daily with the configuration management engineering team to drive the timely deployment of new baselines.
Required Experience:
  1. Strong knowledge of security frameworks, standards, and CIS baselines.
  2. Strong system administration background in a hybrid cloud/on-prem environment, including Windows Server, VMware ESXi, AWS, and Azure.
  3. Experience with configuration management.
  4. Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  5. Ability to create technical documentation and standard operating procedures.
  6. Experience with Git and Jira.
Desirable Experience:
  1. Ansible, Chef, or Chef Inspec.
  2. ServiceNow (SNOW) integration.
  3. Strong communication skills with a developer mindset.
  4. Ability to work independently on time-sensitive tasks.
  5. Exposure to vulnerability and patch management, incident triage and response, and SOC operations.
