Build and automate Windows infrastructure using C#/F#, PowerShell, OCaml, CI/CD, configuration management, monitoring, and cross-platform engineering systems.

The Windows Engineer internship is an IT and systems-engineering role focused on the infrastructure and automation behind Jane Street’s Windows desktop and server estate. The team combines internally developed systems, open-source software, and third-party platforms to support engineering and production technology across the firm.

What you may build

• Windows automation and configuration-management tools.


• Improvements to CI/CD systems, cross-platform frameworks, and software-development environments.


• More scalable and efficient services, tooling, and monitoring systems.


• Editor and workflow improvements that make coding and deployment across IT faster and more reliable.

Interns are exposed to several languages used by the team: OCaml as Jane Street’s primary development language, F# in parts of the Windows stack, and PowerShell for much of the IT automation work. Projects come directly from the team’s mission-critical production stack.

What Jane Street looks for

You should be a strong programmer with experience in a .NET language such as C# or F#, understand operating-system fundamentals and computer architecture, and have a basic understanding of network protocols. Jane Street also explicitly lists familiarity with AI/LLMs and prompt engineering as useful. Candidates should be equally comfortable working from a command line and a graphical environment, and should communicate and collaborate well.
