Job summary

Airbus is seeking an experienced wind tunnel technician to assemble and finalise precision wind tunnel models at Filton. You will integrate models for test campaigns, perform mechanical assembly to engineering drawings, and finish components to tight tolerances.

The role requires travel within the UK and internationally, with opportunities to work on varied, one-off models and develop hands-on skills in a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Background in precision mechanical engineering.
• Advanced hand and workshop skills for small, complex parts.
• Ability to take ownership from start to finish on tasks.
• Demonstrates a methodical, pragmatic and systematic approach to tasks.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Integrate wind tunnel models in readiness for test campaigns at Filton and external facilities worldwide.
• Mechanical assembly and fitting of wind tunnel model components per engineering drawings, ensuring geometric tolerances.
• Hand finishing of metallic and non-metallic components to specified surface tolerances; blend components and sub-assemblies.
• Install static pressure measurement instrumentation; solder ferrules, tubing, markers and validation checks.
• Build and support model configuration changes during test campaigns at Filton and external facilities worldwide.
• Willing to travel within and outside the UK to support intensive wind tunnel testing.
