Job summary

Cadillac Formula 1 Team in the UK at Silverstone is seeking a Model Design Engineer to own end-to-end design of wind-tunnel parts, translating CAD into validated components and data-driven insights for on-track performance.

You'll work with aerodynamics and surface design, drive design-standard improvements, and travel during race seasons while contributing to a fast-paced, collaborative culture focused on precision and innovation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering, Design, Motorsport, or a related discipline or equivalent.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software (3DExperience/CATIA) and experience in using FEA for structural validation of parts.
• Strong understanding of parametric modeling, part robustness, and model layout principles.
• Strong knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes, including composites and advanced digital manufacturing techniques.
• Strong understanding of GD&T and its application and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
• Enthusiastic contributor to a collaborative, inclusive, and open culture and highly detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering work right the first time.
• Willing to travel and work flexible hours during race season.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, well-validated parts for wind tunnel testing in line with aerodynamic targets.
• Support on complete design projects, including CAD creation, project management, quality-checking, and documentation.
• Continuously improve the functionality, quality, and robustness of model parts to optimize wind tunnel test efficiency.
• Drive the development and implementation of improved design workflows and standards.
• Collaborate closely with Aerodynamicists and Surface Design Engineers to ensure alignment with technical specifications.
• Ensure adherence to standard design practices and help refine them as needed.
