Job summary

RES is expanding its Advisory Services to deliver end-to-end wind energy consulting across a portfolio of onshore wind assets. The role focuses on due diligence, owner’s engineering, lifetime extension, and repowering assessments for wind projects.

You will report to the Advisory Services Team Lead (UK&I) and work with internal stakeholders and subcontractors to meet client expectations. The successful candidate will bring strong project management, client-facing skills, and a solid engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
• Chartered Engineer status or actively working towards chartership with a relevant institution.
• Postgraduate qualification in wind energy or renewable energy engineering.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end advisory projects for wind assets, including due diligence and owner’s engineering.
• Provide technical advisory on lifetime extension and repowering for onshore wind.
• Deliver client‑facing reports and presentations to the Asset Management team and clients.
• Engage with clients and subcontractors to define requirements and manage costs.
• Monitor project progress to stay on time and on budget; support proposals for new work.
• Travel to client sites in the UK and internationally.

Wind Advisory Consultant

Position Overview

RES is expanding its Advisory Services within its Asset Management Department, which manages a growing fleet of renewable assets. We are looking for an experienced renewables consultant to join this team. The Renewable Energy Consultant will deliver client‑facing advisory work across our portfolio, including due diligence, owner’s engineering, lifetime extension and repowering assessments for onshore wind.

The role involves evaluating end‑of‑life strategies for operational wind farms and reporting to the Advisory Services Team Lead (UK&I).

Accountabilities

• Understand and interpret client’s needs, clearly communicating client’s goals to internal and external stakeholders
• Be responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of advisory services and one‑off projects on behalf of clients, including due diligence, owner’s engineering, and general technical mission
• Support our growth and cost reduction targets
• Undertake technical, project management, commercial and customer‑facing activities
• Support regular communication with target clients and provide feedback to the business units to refine the product offering

Reporting

Prepare and deliver presentations and reports for the Asset Management team and/or clients.

Internal Engagement

• Ensure appropriate contracts are agreed with clients and time and cost are accounted for appropriately within the business
• Ensure the quality of work meets clients’ expectations
• Work with all internal stakeholders and any sub‑contractors
• Ensure project deliverables stay on time, on target and on budget
• Support the development of proposals to secure new work
• Manage the financial performance of any projects managed
• Mentor and support less experienced team members
• Identify and communicate relevant technological developments or regulatory changes that may impact the business or provide new opportunities

External Engagement

• Work with clients to identify their requirements and key points of contact
• Attend client meetings and undertake site visits within the UK and globally

Knowledge

• Understanding of technical aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of renewable energy systems, preferably onshore wind and/or battery energy storage systems
• Established network of contacts within the renewables industry
• Understanding of commercial aspects of renewable energy infrastructure projects, including project finance
• Understanding of lifetime extension, repowering and end‑of‑life decision‑making for onshore wind assets

Experience

• Owners engineering, due diligence, technical advisory and/or consultancy activities in the onshore wind field and hybrid wind systems
• Lifetime extension assessments and/or repowering feasibility studies for onshore wind
• Similar consultancy or in‑field experience with battery storage systems considered advantageous
• Modelling experience in Windfarmer, WindPRO, Python, PVSyst, Chronos considered advantageous
• Experience in the renewables industry in a technical consulting capacity
• Managing budgets and project costs
• Client‑facing experience in a consultancy role
• Contract specification review and preparation
• Competent user of Microsoft Office365 products

Qualifications

Essential

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent) in an engineering discipline — e.g., mechanical, electrical, civil/structural or aeronautical engineering — from an accredited institution

Desirable

• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or actively working towards chartership with a relevant institution (IMechE, IET, ICE or equivalent), or an equivalent international designation
• Postgraduate qualification in wind energy or renewable energy engineering
• Demonstrable application of engineering analysis in an operational wind context
