OVERVIEW The University of Cambridge is seeking a Widening Participation Coordinator to join the Student Admissions and Access team in Cambridge, England. This role supports outreach activity designed to help students from underrepresented and less advantaged backgrounds explore higher education opportunities and consider applying to Cambridge and other leading universities. The successful candidate will work within a wider team focused on access and participation across the UK. The position involves helping coordinate outreach programmes, developing new initiatives, and working closely with students, schools, families, university colleagues, and external partners to deliver impactful education activities.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate at least one outreach programme within the Widening Participation team
- Contribute to the development and delivery of wider Widening Participation activity
- Lead projects supporting prospective applicants from ethnicities currently underrepresented at Cambridge
- Support programmes including the Target Oxbridge programme and initiatives for British Bangladeshi and British Pakistani students
- Research, design, plan and deliver activities that support students in developing academic skills and confidence
- Help students explore higher education pathways and opportunities
- Work with students, parents, teachers, university staff and external partners
- Coordinate and deliver outreach programmes across the University and wider UK partnerships
- Evaluate the impact of outreach and participation programmes
Requirements
- Experience in the education or charity sector
- Ability to coordinate outreach programmes and projects
- Experience working with students and multiple stakeholder groups
- Ability to research, design, plan and deliver education activities
