Purpose of the role
To lead the development and execution of the bank's Data & Analytics strategy, aligned with the bank's overall business goals and risk appetite, ensuring data is used effectively to drive business growth, optimise operations, and mitigate risks.
Accountabilities
- Enable Business or Function Unit Strategy by fostering a comprehensive understanding of data utilization, providing thought leadership on best practices and new capabilities to achieve Business outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to data policies, standards, and controls, and contribute to improving Data Quality supporting various use cases.
- Partner with Business or Function leadership to define and prioritize data use cases, develop business data products, and realize their benefits.
- Prioritize activities related to Data and Analytics, challenging end-to-end design and architecture.
Director Expectations
- Manage a business function, contributing to strategic initiatives, policies, and procedures; oversee multiple complex projects that may span the entire business.
- Lead a large team or sub-function, fostering a performance-driven culture, or lead organization-wide projects as a technical expert and thought leader, coaching less experienced specialists.
- Provide expert advice to senior management and committees, influencing decisions beyond the immediate function.
- Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
- Ensure compliance with policies and regulations, escalating breaches appropriately.
- Monitor and influence external environment, regulators, and advocacy groups as appropriate.
- Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the function's integration with the business to achieve objectives.
- Stay current with industry theories, practices, and external developments.
- Use advanced analytical skills to solve complex problems and design solutions.
- Make strategic decisions within their area of authority.
- Negotiate and influence stakeholders at senior levels.
- Act as principal contact for key clients and cross-functional counterparts.
