Accountabilities

In this role, you will operate and maintain the wheel lathe, supporting its daily activities. This permanent position involves rotating shifts.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining the work site, materials, and equipment.
  • Supporting health and safety practices.
  • Performing planned maintenance on the wheel lathe and related equipment.
  • Carrying out wheel turning for Hitachi and third-party rolling stock.
  • Conducting post-operation checks and adjustments.
  • Ensuring compliance of traction and rolling stock assets with operational standards.
  • Providing operational support to fleet staff if duties permit.
  • Developing professionally and fostering good working relationships.
  • Learning new skills aligned with Hitachi’s evolving business needs.
  • Liaising with Hitachi and external personnel as required.

Required Skills

  • Experience with Milling, Turning, CNC, or similar processes.
  • Knowledge of rules and regulations compliance.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional representation of Hitachi.
  • Teamwork skills.

Education/Qualifications

  • M&E ONC or apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with Milling, Turning, CNC, or similar.
  • Depot driving and shunting experience.
  • Wheel Lathe operations and maintenance.
