Job summary

Coleg Sir Gar | Coleg Ceredigion in Ammanford is seeking a practical Technician to support the Construction team, focusing on brickwork and plastering. You will ensure workshops, materials and equipment are prepared and available to support teaching and learning.

The successful candidate will maintain health and safety documentation, service equipment, manage stock and provide stores services to the department. The role offers progression and a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2/3 Qualification in a trade related area.
• Appropriate Health & Safety training (or willingness to undertake).
• First Aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training).
• Recent and relevant experience in the technical field/s concerned.
• Good communicator with diplomacy and tact.
• Good interpersonal and organisational skills.
• Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
• Ability to work flexibly.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance and support for teaching and learning within your area.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment, complying with Health and Safety regulations.
• Prepare, maintain and update Health & Safety documentation such as Risk Assessments and COSHH records.
• Maintain, upgrade and service equipment as planned, including wood machining and other construction machinery.
• Ensure the care, control, maintenance and security of course equipment, materials and stock.
• Maintain stores inventory for consumables, equipment and delivery resources.
• Carry out ordering of stock in line with college financial procedures.
• Provide a stores issue service for course consumables and equipment.
• Participate in course teams and curriculum meetings as required.
• Carry out duties which support marketing and promotion of course programmes.
• Support lecturers and students in undertaking workshop based activities.
