Job Summary
Main Clinical Duties of the Health Care Assistant role:
- New registration health checks
- Height /weight/body mass index assessments
- Basic medical history
- Health Promotion including advice on diet, exercise, smoking cessation Sexual Health advice.
- Cytology Screening advice
- Breast awareness advice
- Smoking cessation sessions as intermediary advisor
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Venepuncture
- Assist with routine screening of all asthma, COPD, diabetic and IHD patients
Main duties of the job
- Assist with Spirometry under supervision of primary care nurses
- Urinalysis
- ECG recording
- Act as chaperone/assist with clinical examination as required
- Act as patients advocate promoting patients point of view to others
- Maintain accurate records of patient care in electronic format using correct codes
- Report changes in condition of patient/areas of concern to relevant member of clinical staff and ensure documented action is taken
- To follow relevant protocols, guidelines and best practice, e.g. local protocols, NICE guidance

- To contribute to safe working environment for all through adherence to health and safety management systems
- Correctly handle confidential information in line with your duties, and to actively support information governance policies, processes and systems
- Support the services approach to equal opportunities, acting in line with the services equality and diversity policy
- To always work within boundaries of ones competence, taking personal responsibility to keep abreast of change
- To always act in a professional manner towards patients and staff
- Any other duty as requested
