Buckinghamshire Libraries are looking for a passionate Library Resources Officer to join our friendly team in Wendover Library. If you're someone who values exceptional customer service and loves connecting people with resources that inspire and enrich their lives, we'd love to hear from you!
Salary: £26,994 - £28,253 per annum based on full-time hours (salary will be pro-rata for part time hours)
Hours: 17.5 hours per week
Buckinghamshire Council is a relatively new organisation that combines the strengths and expertise of the previous five councils in the county to create positive change for local people, communities, and businesses. We are firmly focused on the future and have made a clear commitment to serve residents better and to provide stronger representation for Buckinghamshire, both locally and nationally.
Buckinghamshire Libraries are responsible for delivering a modern library service through 29 libraries to communities throughout the county, using a mixed model of staffed, volunteer-supported and volunteer-led community libraries.
We are currently in the process of launching Library Flex, an enhanced out-of-hours service which will allow library users self-service access to facilities in 8 of our county libraries in addition to a regular staffed service.
This is a customer-facing role which will require you to be present at a specific site location each day.
You’ll work in a team with shared goals and ambitions, with a focus on customer service and building partnerships with local organisations and community groups. We’re always exploring ways to enhance our offer, and we’re looking for someone who is comfortable sharing ideas, highlighting ways that we can work creatively, and who has a keen interest in delivering the key priorities for the library service.
This role is part of the Aylesbury Area, and will be based at Wendover Community library. There may be occasional work in other libraries as part of the area, so applicants must be willing and able to work at multiple locations.
This is a part-time role of 17.5 hours per week. The working pattern is as follows:
As part of this role, you will:
Fixed
As a 'fixed' worker, you'll spend most of your time in the same location, which will likely be a fixed office or location where your role is performed. Typically, you'll be based in the same location as the rest of your team, because you provide a particular service from that fixed location or need access to information there.
We are looking for somebody passionate about libraries and the role they can play in transforming the lives of children, young people and families, and who is keen to promote wellbeing in the community by combating loneliness and social exclusion.
You’ll be experienced in working as part of a team, but also be proactive in your workload and a support to colleagues in the absence of the Area Supervisor.
If you’re brilliant at helping customers with enquiries, with skills to promote and help customers access digital services, and you’re enthusiastic to develop the library as a community hub and passionate to support and deliver community events then we want to hear from you.
You should also have experience in supervision and supporting staff or volunteers in delivering professional and knowledgeable customer service to residents and visitors.
