Job description

Welsh Medium Teacher (SEN) - Merthyr

Academics - Acting as an agency on behalf of schools across Merthyr Tydfil - is currently recruiting for a passionate and committed Welsh Medium Teacher with experience in SEN (Special Educational Needs) to work in a variety of local primary and secondary schools.

This is a temporary role, with the potential for long-term or permanent placement depending on school requirements and candidate suitability.

Role Details:

  • Position: Welsh Medium Teacher (SEN experience essential)
  • Location: Schools across Merthyr Tydfil
  • Type: Temporary (opportunity for permanent roles)
  • Pay Rate: 170 per day (inclusive of holiday pay)
  • Start Date: Immediate / Flexible

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons through the medium of Welsh
  • Support pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, and emotional/behavioural needs
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs and wider school staff
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Fluent Welsh speaker, confident teaching in Welsh
  • Experience supporting or teaching pupils with SEN
  • Enhanced DBS (registered on the Update Service or willing to obtain)
  • Proven classroom experience in a similar role
