- ROLE FOCUS: To contribute to the development of early intervention and prevention service in Bromley for Children and Young People. The post represents an opportunity for a qualified practitioner, who is committed to the principles of CYP IAPT and THRIVE, to further their career. In addition to managing their own caseload, the post holder will provide advice and support to children, young people and their families through workshops and small groups to provide them with information on how to maintain their emotional wellbeing.

In addition to managing their own caseload, the post holder will provide advice and support to children, young people and their families through workshops and small groups to provide them with information on how to maintain their emotional wellbeing.
The post-holder will work closely with schools in Bromley borough to support delivery of the three core functions of Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs): Evidence-based interventions for mild-moderate mental health issues Supporting introduction or development of whole school approaches to mental health and wellbeing Providing timely advice to school and college staff and liaising with external specialist services to help children and young people to get the right support. Work will be carried out predominantly in schools and some community settings, as well as digitally on occasions from home, to ensure in-reach to young people who would not normally access services. The post-holder will work with young people from diverse backgrounds and should be committed to diversity, equity and inclusion, ensuring access to services for all. The post holder must be prepared to be flexible in their working arrangements to ensure that all children and young people can access support at a time which suits their needs.
The other aspect of this work will be delivering workshops and online sessions to young people, parents and carers. Post-holders who hold a professional qualification will be allocated half a day per month to undertake work to maintain their qualification requirements. As our service is open Monday to Saturday, occasional Saturday working may be required. The ideal candidate(s) must have: Professional qualification, with evidence of continuing professional development, in a field relevant to child and adolescent mental health Enhanced DBS Professional Registration or eligibility (one of the following): BACP, NCPS, UKCP, HCPC, GMC, NMC Over two years experience of working with children and families, including work with children and young people with emotional and mental health needs which includes working with children and young people with a wide range of clinical and behavioural presentations.
Experience of undertaking assessment of emotional and mental health needs children and young people Experience of working with multi-agency partners and planning best outcomes for children and young people Demonstrate knowledge and skills to deliver training packages on child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health, including delivering psycho education materials to children, young people and their families 2. MAIN DUTIES To provide an evidenced based service for children and young people as part of early identification and intervention for children and young people with emotional and mental health needs. To provide advice, support and knowledge of appropriate resources for the emotional wellbeing of children and their families. To take responsibility for leading on and liaising with a number of primary and secondary schools, providing consultation and planning interventions through regular Support and Advice Meetings with School Mental Health Leads and other relevant pastoral staff.
To keep up to date with local service offer provision in the locality and connections with suitable services for a range of diverse needs, including SEND. To support development and delivery of psychoeducational workshops, webinars and groups for young people, parents/carers and school staff. To work across agencies to develop a co-ordinated response to children and young people's mental health needs. To work alongside others to demonstrate knowledge and skills to plan and critically evaluate the implementation of the early intervention role to meet the mental health needs of children and young people.
- PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITIES To deliver evidence based therapeutic interventions for low to moderate difficulties with a caseload of children and families, to maintain their professional qualification, keeping abreast of current training and practice in such areas. Ensure information sharing protocols are conducted according to GDPR compliance and organisational policy. To provide support and guidance to others, particularly schools with the aim of improving skills, knowledge, awareness and facilitating reflective practice.
Undertake assessments with young people and parents which identify areas where the young person/ parent wishes to see change and/or recovery. To identify, monitor and manage risk to self or others in every contact with a client and follow organisational and local procedures for safeguarding. Manage own workload through both clinical practice supervision and managerial supervision. To work collaboratively with other teams within Bromley Y to ensure children, young people and families needs remain at the core of our work, in line with the THRIVE model.
To contribute to the evaluation of all areas of service delivery, client and professional satisfaction and the impact of interventions. To adopt a balanced age-appropriate approach in empowering young people in promoting their individual voice and needs which supports the rights of the child and that supports parent and carers in their role. 4. EDUCATION AND TRAINING To ensure knowledge and skills are continuously developed and maintained at a high level of competence.
To identify training needs through supervision and personal development plans. To take responsibility in fulfilling CPD requirements for professional registration requirements and maintenance To support the design and deliver training services/workshops and to take part in their evaluation. 5. RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT To work with others to develop practice protocols and audit tools, to collect the relevant statistical information to underpin service evaluation and record keeping.
To ensure all interventions are evidence based. To implement national audit tools and review with colleagues nationally and locally. To be key in obtaining service user views and feedback on support provided to ensure the delivery of accessible provision. To comply with relevant professional codes of conduct.
To contribute to establishing essential networks, knowledge base of resources and maintain links with relevant community organisations. To contributing to identifying service needs and gaps across with regard to childrens mental health and wellbeing. Develop skills in service evaluation and audit to ensure the overall development of the service. To maintain awareness of up-to-date research and development pertaining to advances in child and young peoples emotional wellbeing and mental health issues.
- GENERAL Keep timely, consistent and accurate records, providing information for monitoring and evaluation as required. Participate in, and actively contribute to, individual supervision, training and team meetings as required. Work in accordance with Bromley Ys objectives and values.
Comply with all organisational policies and procedures, including the Code of Conduct and in particular to ensure safe, fair and responsible working practices and relationships. Undertake duties to ensure the health and safety of post-holder, colleagues, service users, volunteers and visitors. Work flexibly, being prepared to perform other duties commensurate with the role. Actively support and promote any fundraising activities as part of the day-to-day duties.
Promote the work of Bromley Y People and encourage positive understanding, awareness and attitudes towards emotional wellbeing and mental health. Work at all times to promote equality, diversity and individual rights. Work alongside and ensure active service user participation in all aspects of work, including monitoring of activities. To participate in the development of local safeguarding child protection, joint agency procedures and other relevant local procedures.
