Job description

Our Wellbeing Practitioners support individuals in leading full, active, and socially connected lives, helping them achieve what matters most to them.

Applicants should possess, or be willing to work towards, a qualification meeting the standards required for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

We are seeking a Wellbeing Practitioner to join a self-organised team supporting a very busy man living independently in Craigmillar, Edinburgh. This role is for 24 hours per week. A driving licence is essential as he owns a car. Sleepovers are included as part of the service.

About this opportunity

  1. This gentleman requires assistance with daily tasks such as shopping, cooking, and housework.
  2. He prefers to do as much as possible from his wheelchair and will work with you to prepare meals and clean his home. He needs additional support with personal care.
  3. He works two days a week at Ikea. If successful, you will undertake an Ikea induction to assist him during these shifts, along with Thistle Foundation training.
  4. He maintains an active social life, including regular nights out, hosting friends, holidays, and weekends away. He enjoys relaxing with football, TV shows, or playing his Nintendo.
  5. He is close to his family and stays in touch through online classes, FaceTime, voice notes, and meet-ups for coffee.
  6. Support is provided seven days a week; therefore, full flexibility is required.
  7. The role includes administrative tasks such as working on rotas, updating support plans, arranging meetings, and taking minutes. Basic IT skills are necessary, with training provided.
