You will work with a multidisciplinary team, monitor wellbeing, perform clinical tasks as required, support detox processes, and help maintain morale through compassionate engagement; commitment to confidentiality and professional governance.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor guests' physical and emotional well-being and alert senior colleagues as necessary.
  • Support nursing team in tasks such as ECGs, vital signs monitoring (NEWS2), venepuncture, capillary blood glucose, urine drugs screens, urinalysis, breathalyser tests.
  • Liaise with Registered Nurse and on-call Doctor regarding results and abnormal diagnostics.
  • Contribute to induction and training of new colleagues.
  • Assist in monitoring detoxification and general healthcare needs of guests.
  • Complete 24-hour reviews with guests to ensure needs are met.
  • Chaperone clinical appointments when required.
  • Document care clearly and maintain confidentiality.

Hours
  • Hours:36.75 per week (3 x 12.25-hour shifts)
  • Shift Pattern: A mixture of day and night shifts
  • Pay Rate: £13.26 per hour

About the role

To provide a high standard of personalised care to guests in a sensitive and respectful manner. To ensure that rehabilitation goals, strategies and procedures are implemented to comply with legislation as laid down in the Care Standards Act 2000. To represent Delamere at all levels. To ensure that the nursing team and management are kept informed of activities and developments within Delamere. To ensure that the treatment philosophy is carried out efficiently, effectively, as a model of good practice and with all due reference to statutory and legal requirements.

Role Responsibilities
  • To monitor the physical and emotional well-being of all guests tobe aware of changes and to alert senior colleagues, as necessary.
  • To complete tasks as requested by nursing team or managementand support nursing team in tasks such as, performing ECG’S, vitalssigns monitoring (NEWS2), medication chaperone, venepuncture,capillary blood glucose, urine drugs screens, urinalysis, breathalysertests, uploading of results.
  • Liaising with Registered Nurse and on-call Doctor regardinguploading paper results, escalating any abnormal results ofdiagnostics tests, monitoring or guest behaviour.
  • To play an active role in the induction and training of new colleagues.
  • To support the nurses to monitor the detoxification and generalhealthcare needs of all guests.
  • To complete 24-hour review with all guests to ensure their needs arebeing met.
  • To perform intentional rounding and safeguard guests within ourcare.
  • To chaperone clinical appointments when required.
  • Diarise daily tasks that need completing.
  • To assist in maintaining morale of guests by communication andcontact - achieved by talking and working with them.
  • To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Engage in and complete training both online and face-to-face.
  • To attend to and assist guests in achieving a high standard ofphysical care, meeting nutritional/hydration needs, hygiene,appearance, and good routine.
  • To assist guests in the management of their bedrooms and commonareas, as appropriate.
  • To support safe infection prevention and control measures as well asthe housekeeping function at Delamere by completing set domestictasks during the night shift.
  • To appropriately document and evidence the care provided to a highstandard.
  • To observe strict confidentiality in respect of any informationregarding guests.
  • To support other teams within Delamere including catering anddomestic teams.
  • To support good Clinical Governance adhering to robust and timelyincident reporting in the occurrence of an untoward/unexpectedevent.
  • To enable guests are safeguarded appropriately, escalating toRegistered Nurse if disclosures are made and adhering to Delameresafeguarding processes of reporting.
Experience and knowledge
  • Experience with working in a team and independently
  • Knowledge of addiction treatment sector and mentalhealth
  • Ideally, experience in completing physical observationswith support from nursing team
  • Ideally, experience of operating within a highly regulatedenvironment and formal governance structure
  • Ideally, completed studies into care sector (CareCertificate)
  • Good Communication skills are essential
  • Full Driving license is required for driving the works van toequine therapy on our weekly visit and specimen runs tothe hospital.
  • To escort guests when attending hospital and dentalappointments.
  • May need to administer first aid in emergency situations.
