Avery Healthcare Group runs Derby Heights Care Home in Littleover, Derby, and is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Wellbeing and Activities Assistant to support residents’ wellbeing through a range of engaging activities.

You will assist the Wellbeing Coordinator, help maintain a safe environment, report changes to the care team, and help foster community links to promote intergenerational activities. The role requires compassion, strong communication, and prior dementia-experience with older adults.

Qualifications

  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Understanding of the role interaction in residents' well-being.
  • Positive attitude toward older people and commitment to providing stimulating activities.
  • Experience with older people in a residential nursing dementia setting.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a safe living and working environment, contributing to the professional image of the home.
  • Reporting changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Wellbeing Coordinator, Home Manager and care staff.
  • Assisting with ordering and preparing supplies for upcoming activities.
  • Establishing links with local community groups to promote access and intergenerational activity.

About the Role

As Wellbeing and Activities Assistant, your focus will be tosupportthe Wellbeing Coordinator in providing a wide range of activities to engage and stimulate the resident's physical, cognitive, and social well-being.

Other responsibilitieswillinclude:

  • Maintaining a safe living and working environment, contributing to the positive and professional image of thehome.
  • Reporting any changes in residents’ physical or emotional condition to the Wellbeing and Activity Coordinator, Home Manager, and the care staff.
  • Supporting with ordering and preparing supplies for upcoming activities as directed.
  • Supporting establishing links with the local community (e.g., schools, spiritual groups, museums/libraries) to encourage access to the wider community and promote intergenerational activity.
