Job summary

West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a Wellbeing Advisor to support adults across the West Northamptonshire area. You will combine one-to-one support, community outreach and partnership work to help people improve health, wellbeing and independence.

The role includes travel across rural communities including Daventry and Towcester, with regular face-to-face clinics. You'll work in a supportive team and use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals, coordinating with partners in

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting people with health, wellbeing or social needs.
  • Strong communication and active listening skills.
  • A strengths-based, solution-focused approach.
  • Experience of assessments, support planning or case management.
  • Good IT skills and ability to maintain accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Building trusted relationships with residents and understanding what matters most to them.
  • Completing wellbeing assessments and creating personalised wellbeing plans.
  • Supporting people to make positive, sustainable changes to their health and wellbeing.
  • Helping residents access local services, groups, activities and community support.
  • Delivering wellbeing sessions and group-based activities within local communities.
  • Working closely with health, social care, voluntary sector and community partners.
  • Managing a caseload and maintaining accurate records and case notes.
  • Carrying out home visits where needed to help people remain safe, independent and connected.

Job description

As a Wellbeing Advisor, you'll work alongside adults across West Northamptonshire, helping them improve their health, wellbeing and independence. You'll support people facing a wide range of challenges, building trusted relationships and helping them take practical steps towards positive change. This is a varied role that combines one-to-one support, community outreach and partnership working. You could be helping someone access local activities and services, supporting them to improve their physical or mental wellbeing, or helping them navigate services when life feels overwhelming. You'll be joining a large, supportive team of Wellbeing Advisors, Coordinators and Team Leaders who are passionate about helping people thrive. Everyone brings something different to the team, and that's exactly how we like it. This particular vacancy sits within our rural team, so you'll spend time working across communities including Daventry, Towcester and surrounding areas, with regular face-to-face clinics and community-based work.

You'll bring:
  • Experience supporting people with a range of health, wellbeing or social needs
  • Strong communication and active listening skills
  • A strengths-based, solution-focused approach
  • Experience of assessments, support planning or case management
  • Good IT skills and the ability to maintain accurate records
  • A Level 4 qualification in Health Promotion or a related discipline (or equivalent relevant experience)

You'll also need to be able to travel independently across West Northamptonshire, as this role involves working within local communities and attending face-to-face appointments.
