About Mears:

At Mears, our vision is to be regarded as the most trusted and respected provider of housing with care solutions. We value our customers and communities, putting their needs at the heart of everything we do; teamwork, supporting each other, sharing ideas, and never excluding others.

About the Role:

We are working with our client to bring to the UK a number of families under the Afghan Resettlement and Assistance Policy. They will initially be housed in various accommodation bases, known as the transit estate, before being moved to a settled home in the community. Mears will be securing community homes over the next 6 months, and some families will move to these homes, while others will move to dispersed accommodation throughout the UK.

Mears has been asked to provide integration support services to occupants during their stay in the transit estates. As a Welfare Support Officer, your main duties will include supporting service users, addressing safeguarding and welfare issues, providing practical and emotional support, monitoring wellbeing, and maintaining accurate records for audit purposes. Maintaining professional boundaries and resilience is essential to providing a high-quality service that meets the needs of service users.

Role Criteria:

  • Experience working with vulnerable and diverse client groups
  • Understanding of safeguarding
  • Ability to identify individual and family needs and support packages to maintain independence
  • Experience with mental health and challenging behavior
  • Effective communication with colleagues, authorities, and service users
  • Record keeping and risk assessment skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Resilience
  • Supportive, trustworthy, empathetic, approachable, and a good listener
  • Full UK driving license

Note: All roles require entitlement to work in the UK. Mears does not offer visa sponsorship. To drive a Mears vehicle, candidates must be over 21, have held their license for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points. All roles are subject to DBS/security checks.
