Overview
The post holder will be establishment‑based and report to the Head of Business Assurance. The post holder will be responsible for implementing and supporting an overarching Welfare Delivery and Wellbeing Framework within prisons. The post holder will coordinate and effectively deliver the local reflective practice model within prisons. The post holder will provide advice and guidance to Governors, Senior Leaders and Line Managers to ensure effective wellbeing practices are implemented, supporting all staff within the establishment. This is a non‑operational, non‑rotational role with no line‑management responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and deliver local reflective practice model sessions to identified staff cohorts, improving resilience, confidence and retention.
- Ensure that trained reflective practitioners are released to attend planned sessions.
- Work collaboratively with People Hub/Detail to optimise attendance on the reflective practice timetable.
- Engage with the reflective practice sponsor or Governor to highlight concerns or trends.
- Promote PAM reflective sessions and drive improvements in local wellbeing activity through the Wellbeing Committee.
- Ensure TRiM, Mental Health Allies and the Care Team work collaboratively to support staff.
- Post‑incident care: work with Safer Custody colleagues and stakeholders to provide timely, appropriate support.
- Coordinate wellbeing events, promotion and activity as per a locally published wellbeing calendar.
- Contribute to the Supporting Each Other Framework by delivering a local wellbeing induction to new starters.
- Work with managers to improve staff wellbeing through wellbeing awareness sessions.
- Engage with MOJ HR to contribute to wellbeing assurance activity and drive improvement.
- Act as point of contact to provide specialist advice on staff absences or mental health concerns, including promoting external support.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to deliver the fitness testing programme.
- Work with internal stakeholders (Staff Fitness Team, National Staff Support Leads, MOJ People Group, Health & Safety, D&I) to improve staff wellbeing.
- Work with external stakeholders (OH, EAP, Charity for Civil Servants) to improve staff wellbeing.
- Provide regular communications on national, regional and local wellbeing initiatives (Disability Passports, Carers Passport, Menopause Framework).
- Identify and share good practice across the region.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure joined‑up effective working practice.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong organisational skills, planning and attention to detail.
- Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.
- Able to deliver training effectively and assertively with staff at all levels.
