Job description

This post is on a 3-year fixed-term contract.

We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join our Welfare Rights Team as a full-time Welfare Benefits and Money Advice Caseworker.

The role requires someone with specialist knowledge in welfare benefits, income maximisation, budgeting, and universal credit. You should have substantial experience in welfare benefits and money advice.

You will be committed to providing excellent quality advice. You should be friendly, supportive, highly motivated, and able to work in a driven team of specialist advisors to support our tenants and residents, especially the most vulnerable, to sustain their tenancies and live independently in the community.

Requirements:

  • At least 2 years of experience in advice giving related to Welfare/Benefits Advice.
  • Provide comprehensive advice over the telephone (Advice Line) and face-to-face to residents requiring budgeting support, to improve their financial resilience and manage their finances effectively.
  • Develop, acquire, and maintain sound knowledge of the wider benefits system, identify entitlement, and advise on claim processes, backdating, appeal rights, and discretionary payments.
  • Develop, acquire, and retain strong knowledge of the debt advice process, including using the Standard Financial Statement to identify priority and non-priority debts and suitable debt options.
  • Maintain a sound working knowledge of other relevant services such as housing, safeguarding, and social care.
  • Attend regular training to stay updated on money advice systems, policies, and legislation.
  • Support residents to access appropriate banking products and provide advice on savings and credit options to increase financial inclusion.
  • Make appropriate referrals to relevant teams to achieve the best outcomes for residents.

Hours: 37 hours per week

Qualifications: GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4-9 (A*-C) or equivalent. The successful candidate must provide evidence of these qualifications.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake a basic DBS Check.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written test scheduled on 12th June 2025 and interviews will follow on 26th June 2025.
