Job summary

The Olive School, Preston is seeking a dedicated support staff member to help create a caring, safe and engaging learning environment for our pupils. Your pastoral care experience will place pupil welfare at the heart of our school community.

You will work collaboratively with both support and teaching staff, applying strong organisational skills to day-to-day duties and ensuring high standards of health and safety. A commitment to excellent service for families is essential.

About The Olive School, Preston

The Olive School, Preston is a Muslim faith-based, primary school for 4 to 11 year olds, which welcomes pupils from all faiths and none. We opened in 2016 and, like all Star schools, we have a leadership specialism.

We were graded as ‘Outstanding’ in all areas by Ofsted during our first inspection in June 2019. At our last inspection in December 2024, the school was commended for upholding the same high standards of academic excellence, teaching, character development and behaviour that resulted in the school’s previous ‘Outstanding’ rating.

We’re looking for a talented individual to help foster a caring and supportive learning environment for our young people. Your experience of pastoral care will place our learners’ welfare at the heart of the school.

The successful candidate will be a committed team player with excellent organisational and technical skills. You will have the ability to problem solve and provide excellent customer service to our community.

You will have:

• Experience of working with children.
• An understanding of and ability to implement Health and Safety standards in an educational environment.
• An understanding of importance of the school meal for pupils and the importance of the midday break as a social and educational period.
• The ability to deal with pupils in a fair, patient and firm manner.
• The ability to liaise with both the support staff and teaching staff at the school and to work with others as a team.
