Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Welding Technician to join a busy educational environment in Rotherham, supporting high-quality engineering training. Job description

Welding Technician
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £25,456 per annum
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full-Time, 37 hours per week

About the Role

Our Client is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Welding Technician to support the delivery of high-quality engineering and fabrication training within a busy educational environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a background in Fabrication and Welding who is passionate about sharing their knowledge and helping learners develop practical industry skills. Working within modern workshop facilities, you will support both staff and students, ensuring practical sessions run smoothly, safely, and effectively.

As a key member of the Engineering team, you will contribute to the ongoing development of workshop facilities, processes, and resources while helping to create an engaging learning environment for future engineers and welders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare workshops, equipment, and materials for practical lessons, assessments, and demonstrations.
  • Support students and teaching staff during practical Fabrication and Welding sessions.
  • Ensure workshop equipment and machinery are maintained, safe, and ready for use.
  • Distribute and control tools, materials, and consumables.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering replacement equipment and materials.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping, safety, and organisation throughout the workshop.
  • Carry out routine maintenance checks and report faults when required.
  • Support workshop security and ensure all equipment is stored correctly.
  • Assist with departmental projects and collaborate with other technical staff across Engineering disciplines.
About You
  • Proven industry experience within Fabrication and Welding.
  • Level 2 qualification (or above) in Fabrication and Welding or a related discipline.
  • Level 2 English and Maths qualification (or willingness to work towards).
  • Strong practical workshop skills and understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive and positive approach with a genuine interest in supporting learners.
