Job summary

Airswift is seeking an experienced Welding Inspector to provide independent quality surveillance across fabrication, installation, and handover of PARs on a major project. Initially offsite fabrication, with site support for installation, field welding, NDT, pressure testing, and mechanical completion.

The role requires CSWIP 3.1 (3.2 preferred), PCN Level 2 RT/UT/MT/PT where applicable, CSCS card, and extensive experience in oil and gas or major infra projects.

Qualifications

• CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector certification required; CSWIP 3.2 preferred.
• PCN Level 2 RT/UT/MT/PT certifications; not all four required.
• Current CSCS card is required.
• Extensive welding inspection experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, power, energy, process plant, heavy industrial or major infrastructure projects.
• Experience inspecting structural steelwork, piping systems, modules, skids, or pre-assembled assemblies.
• Strong understanding of welding processes, weld defects, visual inspection techniques, and NDT methods.
• Experience reviewing welding documentation, fabrication records, material certificates, test packs, and turnover dossiers.
• Knowledge of pressure testing, hydrotesting, mechanical completion, and handover processes.
• Experience managing and resolving quality issues and NCRs.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work across both fabrication yards and live construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform welding and fabrication inspections during the manufacture of structural steel and piping systems.
• Verify compliance with approved WPS, WPQRs, welder qualifications, project specifications, and quality requirements.
• Witness fit-up, welding, dimensional inspections, visual inspections, and final acceptance activities.
• Verify material certification, identification, traceability, and preservation throughout fabrication.
• Monitor implementation of Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), fabrication procedures, and quality plans.
• Coordinate and witness NDT activities and review inspection reports.
• Review fabrication records, weld maps, material certificates, NDT reports, repair records, and quality dossiers.
• Carry out final inspections and release completed modules for shipment to site.
• Identify non-conformances and quality issues and ensure appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
• Support PAR installation, field welding, tie-ins, and hook-up activities during the site phase.
• Witness pressure testing and hydrotesting activities and verify associated documentation.
• Support mechanical completion, punch listing, system walkdowns, turnover, and handover activities.
• Produce inspection reports and quality updates for project stakeholders.
