Job summary

A leading company is seeking an experienced Welding Inspector for a 12-month rolling contract in Somerset. The role involves providing independent inspection and quality control services for various equipment. Ideal candidates will have extensive experience, relevant certifications, and a solid understanding of industry standards. Excellent overtime rates and a 40-hour work week are offered.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years as a Welding Engineer and 5 years in equipment inspections.
  • Solid understanding of materials, welding, and NDE techniques.
  • Good working knowledge of UK inspection requirements in high hazard industries.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Welding Inspector – Somerset

£45 per hour (on payroll) + 40-hour week + excellent overtime rates (after 40 hours per week) + 12-month contract (rolling)

Welding Inspector Responsibilities:
  1. Provide independent inspection and quality control services related to new equipment in manufacture, fabrication, and construction.
  2. Inspect equipment including pressure/piping equipment and other mechanical/electrical items manufactured and installed according to conventional codes, standards, and regulations.
  3. Review fabrication/manufacturing documentation within delegated authority levels, including quality plans, ITPs, fabrication/manufacturing procedures, welding procedures, NDE procedures, and review of LTQRs.
  4. Develop and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external customers.
Welding Inspector Profile:
  1. An experienced Welding Engineer/Inspector, ideally with a minimum of 10 years as a Welding Engineer and 5 years in equipment inspections (including NDT & material control).
  2. C&G Certification or equivalent in Fabrication & Welding and/or HNC/BTEC in engineering discipline.
  3. Must have CSWIP 3.1/3.2 certification.
  4. Must have PCN Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT ticket).
  5. Solid understanding of materials, welding, and NDE techniques.
  6. Good working knowledge of UK inspection requirements in high hazard industries.
  7. Ability to work successfully in a team, providing guidance, support, and training as necessary.
