Job summary

Bilfinger UK is seeking a Welding Engineer to join the Hinkley Point C project on a permanent basis. The role is on-site Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, providing technical oversight for all welding activities related to pipework installation and ensuring procedures meet project requirements.

You will guide welding supervisors and site teams, review drawings, and support welding procedure development while maintaining accurate records and contributing to quality and safety standards on site.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight for all welding activities related to pipework installation.
• Ensure welding operations comply with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to welding supervisors, inspectors, and site teams.
• Support the resolution of welding-related technical issues during construction.
• Review and interpret technical drawings, weld maps, and welding requirements.
• Attend training and education events to understand the latest developments in welding to apply to the project.
• Completes any other duties as assigned by the Senior Welding Engineer.
• Support the development, review, and approval of welding procedures (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
• Coordinate welding procedure qualification testing where required.
• Maintain records of approved welding procedures and ensure they are correctly implemented on site.
• Implement new technology/welding processes to aid in improving production.
• Ensure welding activities comply with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and project quality requirements.
• Monitor weld quality performance including weld rejection rates and defect trends.
• Support the investigation and resolution of welding defects and non-conformances.
• Work closely with QA/QC inspectors to ensure proper inspection and testing of welds.
• Support coordination between engineering, construction, and quality teams.
• Preparation of technical welding engineering documentation.
• Support for mechanical completion and system handover.
• Timely completion of welding documentation and traceability records.
