Job Description

TEXO is currently looking for a Welding Engineer to join our Fabrication team based in Dundee. This is a key technical role supporting both our onshore and offshore construction operations.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Serve as the technical lead for all welding activities across TEXO’s operations, ensuring consistent adherence to high standards and compliance with industry codes and client specifications.
  2. Lead welding process development initiatives and drive continuous improvement in welding methods and quality.
  3. Manage and maintain TEXO’s bank of weld procedures and welder qualifications, including ongoing review, revalidation, and compliance with relevant codes and standards (European, ASME, ISO).
  4. Act as the main point of contact for welding audits conducted by clients and Notified Bodies (NOBOs).
  5. Develop and implement new welding procedure qualification tests (WPQTs) and welder qualifications tailored to specific project requirements.
  6. Prepare, analyse, and review welding procedures, recommending and implementing improvements as necessary.
  7. Approve both permanent and project specific welder certifications prior to mobilisation.
  8. Research and introduce new fabrication methods, welding processes, and technologies to improve productivity and efficiency.
  9. Oversee the upkeep, calibration, and certification records of all welding equipment.
  10. Maintain a register of approved welders for in house and on site work, ensuring records are up to date and aligned with project needs.
  11. Provide technical support across departments including Estimating, Engineering, Design, Fabrication, and Welding.
  12. Mentor junior welding engineers, provide guidance to the wider welding team, and assign workload as appropriate.
  13. Conduct metallurgical evaluations as needed to ensure proper selection and application of welding techniques.
  14. Manage all welding-related data and documentation in accordance with industry and client standards.
  15. Supervise and conduct regular audits of TEXO’s weld consumables storage facilities.
  16. Create and enhance quality management system (QMS) procedures relating to welding activities.

Requirements

  1. Ideally qualified as a European Welding Engineer (IIW/EWF) or equivalent; extensive industry experience in a similar role will also be considered.
  2. Membership of The Welding Institute (TWI) with valid certification.
  3. Knowledge of current and emerging welding technologies and standards.
  4. Strong understanding of health and safety principles within fabrication and welding environments.
  5. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  6. Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
