Welding and Quality Manager

An exciting vacancy for a Welding and Quality Manager is now available in the heart of our manufacturing operations, based in Alton, Hampshire.

Main Purpose of the Role

The Welding and Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of product quality, including welding, across all product lines produced by our manufacturing and outsourced partners. This role reports directly to the Supply Chain Director.

Roles and Responsibilities

The Welding and Quality Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all welding is executed to the highest standards by maintaining a welding quality programme.
  2. Hold a CSWIP level 3.0 qualification or higher.
  3. Proactively identify and resolve quality assurance issues.
  4. Develop and maintain weld and material quality control processes to meet required standards and execute quality assurance testing.
  5. Oversee and maintain relevant welder qualification/coding in accordance with EN 287-1 and EN 1090 standards.
  6. Manage methodology, execution, and record-keeping of physical load testing of products, prototypes, and R&D projects.
  7. Lead quality system improvements through internal audits and testing, establishing metrics to monitor system effectiveness.
  8. Foster a culture of quality and first-time right production by inspecting in-house and subcontracted products regularly. Collaborate with procurement to promote quality among suppliers and subcontractors.
  9. Mentor and coach fabrication trainees and apprentices as needed.
  10. Find pragmatic solutions to meet the company's overall financial goals.
