Job description

Welding and Fabrication Operations Assistant

Bradford, £37,500k pa

Working alongside the welding and fabrications Manager you will be responsible for undertaking effective communication of work orders, troubleshooting any production problems, chasing up quotations and ensuring the availability of materials. The role would suit someone who has a fabrication, sheet metal or welding background and is looking for a role in an office based environment.

As the Welding and Fabrication Operations Assistant you will:

  • Develop external sales and maintaining existing customers, producing and chasing quotes and processing all sales orders.
  • Ensuring that the ERP system is kept updated with all information
  • Communicate work orders effectively, undertake production planning and ensure work flow of a product to production schedule.
  • Work from drawings to manage materials, undertake stock control and ensure availability for production and undertake purchasing.
  • Identify potential errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
  • Liaise with the design team to find solutions to manufacturing issues.
  • Liaise directly with customers to understand their needs and deal with any issues.
  • Present drawings to customers, suppliers, and colleagues to ensure accurate product and order fulfilment.
  • Document processes and offer improvements whilst maintaining compliance across all areas of responsibility.

As the Welding and Fabrication Operations Assistant you will:

  • Have worked in a fabrication, sheet metal or welding environment previously
  • Be able to read drawings, calculate material, produce profitable estimates and have an excellent understanding of materials and welding & fabrication techniques
  • Be happy to undertake proactive sales activities such as chasing up quotations and orders with new ad existing customers
  • Have the ability to spot potential manufacturing problems, troubleshoot, and source solutions.
  • Be professional and personable, able to communicate with customers and department managers
  • IT literate with MS products.
  • Ideally you will be apprentice trained or degree qualified in an Engineering field or equivalent
