Salary: Pay grade: $29.36 (plus $.70 for 2nd shift) per hour

Location: Grantley Plant in York, PA

Shift: 2nd shift (3:00pm - 11:30pm)

Benefits: Eligible for benefits on first day of employment

Union: This is a bargaining unit (union) position.

What you will do

We're keeping the Navy cool. Our team at the Grantley Plant custom designs, develops, and manufactures complex chilled water HVAC and refrigeration equipment for Navy vessels worldwide. Your duties include planning, layout, fabrication, assembly, fitting, brazing tubing, threading, welding complex piping, and pressure vessel assemblies, working with ferrous and nonferrous metals using conventional or automatic submerged arc welding, TIG, stick, and manual arc welding in difficult positions.

Responsibilities
  1. Work with isometric drawings, 3-D models, operational sheets, welding symbols, and code specifications.
  2. Perform tasks on the floor, guarded platforms, ladders, or welding tables.
  3. Assemble pressure vessels and subassemblies.
  4. Weld in all positions.
  5. Create layouts and locate internal and external parts based on drawings and measurements.
  6. Prepare materials for welding by cleaning, bead blasting, or grinding.
  7. Weld components per detailed drawings, including internal/external parts, piping, valves, fittings, etc.
  8. Dress welds to Navy standards.
  9. Perform gouging with carbon or plasma arc.
  10. Repair defective welds and materials.
  11. Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Pass a Navy pipe test with backing ring in 6G position using E7018 filler.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 3 years welding experience with SMAW, FCAW, GTAW in all positions.
  • Ability to use measuring tools, fixtures, hand and pneumatic tools, and welding equipment.
  • Basic math skills, ability to read prints and instructions.
  • Physical ability to handle heavy materials and work in strenuous positions.
  • Commitment to safety.

Preferred:

  • Technical or vocational welding schooling or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with code standards, rigging, overhead cranes, exotic materials, and weld gauges.
