Job summary

A leading manufacturer in precision engineering is seeking a Welder / Fabricator in Accrington. You will perform MIG/MAG and TIG welding to high quality and ASME standards within a team environment. This position offers a competitive salary of £39,145 and benefits including 32 days holiday and pension contributions. Ideal candidates will have a time-served welding background and experience with laser and robotic equipment is desirable.

The Welder / Fabricator will be expected to achieve high standards of quality, in line with targeted levels of output whilst working safely and maintaining full product traceability. You will be working as part of a team, and you are expected to contribute to improving any working processes.

Welder / Fabricator Pay, Hours and Benefits

• £39,145 (which includes night working shift allowance)
• 10:00pm - 7:30am Monday to Thursday (4-day working week, no Friday working)
• 32 days holidays including bank holidays

Welder / Fabricator Candidate Requirements

• The Welder / Fabricator will be a Time Served Welder - Essential.
• You will be both MIG/MAG & TIG experienced and be proficient in assigned welding techniques.
• Prior experience of operating robot welders would be advantageous but isn’t essential.
• Seam weld experience would be preferred.
• Experience of using laser equipment is desirable.
• Ability of the following: to use own initiative to work as an individual or as part of a team unsupervised, able to operate computer equipment for data purposes, able to read engineering drawings and engineering quality plans, able to use a variety of measuring equipment.

Welder / Fabricator Key Responsibilities (but not limited to)

• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment.
• Use manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal pieces using MIG/MAG and TIG processes.
• Welding must meet both company quality, and ASME standards. (Welders are tested every 6 months).
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
• Manually handle weights up to 25kg.
• Use of hand fettling/grinding tools.
• Perform welding tasks productively.
• Read and complete tasks to meet technical drawings, work with, and understand weld symbols and weld procedures (WPS).
• May have contact with small amounts of grinding dust/welding fume containing stainless steel.
• Mandatory Ear protection for welding and grinding processes & recommended for others.
