Job Description:

As a Fabricator/Welder within our NOV HydraRig site in Great Yarmouth, you will have a strong understanding of welding processes and materials to fulfill the delivery of structural products such as Skids, tanks, pipework, and pressure vessel fabrications. Your ability to interpret weld procedures, isometrics, and engineering drawings to determine materials and consumables, as well as planning task sequences, will be crucial. Key to this role will be your ability to determine priorities to ensure continuous workflow between disciplines, ultimately achieving target dates and on-time delivery. As a Welder, you will carry out acceptable and consistent levels of finish to set quality standards as determined by contract specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work to achieve high quality in the assembly and welding of component parts
  • Fit up and weld using SMAW and GMAW processes.
  • Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures.
  • Be proficient in the use of all welding equipment, machinery, and tooling used in the Fabrication Shop.
  • Work to weekly production schedule, highlighting any key areas which may prevent achieving daily targets
  • Interpret weld procedures, engineering drawings from sketches, materials, and electronic images, identifying the most efficient, cost-effective solution without compromising quality or safety
  • Maintain welder traceability (when applicable)
  • Follow recognized procedures for issuing and returning of welding consumables from stores (rods, wire, flux)
  • Accurately complete details on timesheets/Kronos electronic timekeeping, returning them to the Supervisor daily and upon completion of specific jobs
  • Participate in resolving assembly and production issues
  • Minimize waste by using/disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Time served apprenticeship or HND in a relevant subject (desirable)

EXPERIENCE

  • Working knowledge within a welding & manufacturing environment, including the preparation of components (essential)
  • Working knowledge of offshore skid manufacturing processes (desirable)

SKILLS, TRAINING OR SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Ability to read engineering drawings, where applicable (essential)
  • MiG, Tig, oxy-acetylene welding and cutting (essential)
