Kinetic are seeking to recruit an experienced Welder for a permanent role with a Global business in the Glasgow area!

Role Description:

A suitably qualified and experienced Welder who is trusted to carry out the Welding of Manufactured and Installed Steelwork items, delivering to the highest quality.

Role Responsibilities:

- Located in areas from on board Ship to Fabrication Shed, also smaller areas such as the Steel Outfit Shop. Welders will assist in the ships construction by welding small sub assemblies and piece parts, to larger tasks such as block link-up butts and seams.

Typical Knowledge and Skills:

1. Understanding of quality standards
2. Understanding all relevant Assessments, Risk, PUWER & COSHH
3. Understanding welding processes for different metals
4. Ability to flow from Shop to Ship when required

Required Qualifications:

1. SVQ/NVQ 3 Marine Engineering
2. SVQ/NVQ 3 Apprenticeship or industry recognised equivalent
3. Relevant experience, post-apprenticeship, in a marine installation or industrial installation environment

Desirable Qualifications:

1. HNC Fabrication and Welding Shipbuilding
2. Experience of Aluminium Welding
3. Experience of Austenitic Welding
4. 6G Welding Qualified

10. Weld Equipment Set Up/Fault Finding Without Assistance Required
11. Weld Sequencing To Assist With Distortion Issues
12. Using Welding Information Cards to Identify Job
13. Operation of Fume Torch & Associated Measuring Device
14. MAG Fillets (Metal Cored Wire)
15. MAG Butts (Metal Cored Wire)
16. MAG Fillets (Solid Core)
17. Understand all Assessments - Risk, PUWER & COSHH
18. Awareness of Relevant Manufacturing Instructions & Risk Assessments

Desirable Experience:

1. Magnetic Particle Inspection (Non-Destructive-Testing Process)
2. Seamer
3. Sub-arc
4. Fillet Welding using Weldycar Machine
5. MIG Aluminium Butts/Fillets
6. MAG Dissimilar/Stainless Steel Butts/Fillets
7. Operation of Bug-O/KAT - Track Welder
8. Stud Welding Knowledge

Expected Skills:

1. Maintain the Safety of self along with others by following safe systems of work when conducting operations.
2. Select, use, maintain, and store appropriate resources safely and correctly (tools, equipment, machinery and consumables).
3. Follow quality improvement principles, techniques, and methods and identify any areas for improvement.
4. Weld all Steelwork using appropriate methods, in accordance with required specifications, and following all required steps and checks for the approved work operation process and operational standards.
