Job summary

Morson Group are recruiting Welders for a 12-month on-site contract in Govan/Scotstoun on behalf of a prestigious defence client. The role requires welding across carbon, stainless steel and aluminium, using a range of processes, with self-verification and strict SHE compliance.

The position offers on-site work with potential for permanency and requires candidates to obtain security clearance before starting. A Modern Apprenticeship/Trade Papers are essential.

Qualifications

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate (Trade Papers) must be provided.
• Ceramic Tile Welding Knowledge required.
• Experience in Welding and use of associated equipment.
• Flux core arc welding experience.
• Deposit welds must pass visual and NDE examinations.
• Carbon steel welding 4–10mm thickness experience.
• Understanding of SHE and risk assessment.

Responsibilities

• Weld different materials (carbon, stainless steel, aluminium).
• Use various welding processes (MMA, MAG, MIG with ceramic tiles; Submerged-arc; KAT; Stud welding).
• Self-verify welds to a high standard.
• Adhere to SHE standards including fume control.

• Local contractors
• Standard: PAYE: 20.96 (plus holiday pay), UMBRELLA: £28.06
• Nightshift/ Weekend: PAYE: £27.88 (plus holiday pay), UMBRELLA: £37.21
• Travelling contractors (39+ miles from site)
• Standard: PAYE: £28.96 (plus holiday pay), UMBRELLA: £38.92
• Nightshift/ Weekend: PAYE: £35.88 (plus holiday pay), UMBRELLA: £48.07

Job Description

• Welding different materials (carbon & stainless steel & aluminium)
• Welding using different welding processes i.e., Manual Metal Arc, Metal Active Gas, Metal Inert Gas, Automatic & Semi-Automatic Machine Welding (Submerged – Arc & KAT) & Resistance Welding (Stud Welding) Welding butts and fillets to a high standard Main process – FCAW / MAG – using ceramic tiles. MIG welding with ceramic tiles is also required.
• Self-verification on all welds
• Adhering to all SHE related standards associated with welding, including fume control

Your Skills and requirements

• Modern Apprenticeship certificate also known as Trade Papers (you will be required to provide papers)
• Ceramic Tile Welding Knowledge
• Knowledge and experience in Welding and use of associated equipment
• Flux core arc welding experience
• Deposit welds that pass both visual and NDE examinations
• Materials experience of welding carbon steel thickness 4-10mm range
• Clear understanding of SHE and Risk Assessment awareness
• Background in major construction / manufacturing environment
• Welding with MCAW consumables
• Welding aluminium with MIG process
• Welding with automated equipment
