Job summary

Nrl is seeking experienced welders for the Hinkley Point C nuclear project in Somerset. This permanent role offers long-term opportunities with competitive rates and potential overtime on a major UK infrastructure project.

Ideal candidates will be multi-coded with TIG and MMA experience, especially in high-spec regulated environments. On-site testing and CCNSG safety credentials are required, with a robust commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • BS EN ISO 9606 coded welding qualifications.
  • TIG and MMA welding experience.
  • Pipe welding and structural welding expertise.
  • Multi-coded in high-spec regulated sectors (nuclear, power, oil & gas).
  • NVQ / City & Guilds / Apprenticeship or time-served (min 5 years).
  • CCNSG Safety Passport holder or willingness to obtain one.
  • On-site weld test completed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform TIG and MMA welding on pipework, plate, and structural components to nuclear quality standards.
  • Fabricate and install industrial piping systems, including carbon steel, stainless steel, and nuclear-grade pipes.
  • Assemble and fit piping for pressure systems (ESPN / PED classified) and supports/brackets.
  • Interpret technical drawings, welding procedures, and specifications accurately.
  • Conduct and record weld inspections, consumable control, and maintain project documentation.
  • Uphold safety culture through toolbox talks, risk assessments, and hazard reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with PPE, permit-to-work systems, and nuclear safety procedures.

Location Somerset, England Sector Energy & Renewables Salary Rates in line with the ECSA agreement with overtime premiums.

We’re seeking experienced Welders to join the Hinkley Point C nuclear new build project in Somerset. This is a permanent position offering long-term opportunities, competitive rates, and the chance to work on one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects. Ideal for multi-coded welders experienced in TIG and MMA processes, particularly those with a background in high-spec environments.

Location and Working Pattern
  • Hinkley Point C, Somerset – on-site role
  • Monday–Thursday: 07:00–17:00
  • Friday–Sunday: 06:45–15:13
  • Working pattern: 10 days on / 4 days off
  • Approx. 50 hours per week with overtime options
  • Park-and-ride bus payments per day available

Must-have Requirements
  • BS EN ISO 9606 coded welding qualifications
  • Proven TIG and MMA welding experience (both processes actively used)
  • Pipe welding expertise essential, alongside structural welding experience
  • Multi-coded capability with experience in high-spec regulated sectors (nuclear, power, oil & gas)
  • Qualified via NVQ, City & Guilds, Apprenticeship or time-served (minimum 5 years’ verified experience)
  • Holder of a valid CCNSG Safety Passport or willingness to obtain one
  • Successful completion of on-site weld test (mandatory)
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety culture and quality control processes
  • Previous experience on large-scale or nuclear projects
