Welcome & Service Assistant - Church Stretton

Summary

Salary: 12.75 per hour

Contract/duration: Fixed term contract until30-Sep-2025

Hours/working pattern: This role is an hourly paid, fixed term role. Wherever possible we aim to offer a consistent working pattern, but we’re looking for flexibility as it may be necessary for us to alter this pattern from time to time to suit the needs of the business. We’d give you as much notice of this as possible.

For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.

What it's like to work here

Reporting to the Welcome Manager, you’ll be part of a team of Welcome & Service Assistants working at Carding Mill Valley. Carding Mill Valley is the main visitor hub for Long Mynd, 5000 acres of upland common land in the Shropshire Hills. This busy site sees many visitors every day, coming to enjoy the outdoors, picnic, relax and be inspired.

Your role is part of the wider Visitor team and is an outdoor role. This is a zero-hour contract to cover the busy summer holidays period with an expectation that there would be three days of work per week, mostly at weekends, with more days available ad-hoc. We're looking for someone who's available to start in early to mid-July and can cover the role until at least the end of August.

What you'll be doing

The Welcome Team manage the arrivals of visitors, taking payments, scanning member cards, recruiting new members and helping to manage the flow of cars in and out of the valley to ensure everyone is welcome and has a memorable experience.

Day to day, you’ll deliver a great all-round customer service experience. You’ll be on hand answering queries and listen to what our visitors need so you can share the right information.Your role is to make sure our visitors have the best day they can. You’ll have the chance to be involved in different aspects of the visitor experience - no two days are the same.

Great visitor experiences are in our nature, and we believe everyone should feel welcomed, appreciated and more engaged because of the excellent service you provide. This role would suit anyone with enthusiasm for delivering great customer service.

You can view the full role profile for this role in the document attached. You don't need to have all of the knowledge, skills and experience listed in the role profile; this is just to provide a full picture of what’s possible in this role.

Who we're looking for

We'd love to hear from you if you're:

  • customer focused with an understanding of the importance of great service
  • a team player, but also can work on your own initiative
  • well organised and adaptable
  • willing to learn new skills
  • have a positive attitude
