Job Purpose
To operate the site weighbridge efficiently and accurately, ensuring all vehicles entering and leaving the waste facility are processed correctly. The role supports compliance, customer service, accurate record-keeping, and safe site operations. This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:30-4:00.
Key Responsibilities
Weighbridge Operations
- Operate the weighbridge system to record incoming and outgoing vehicle weights
- Issue and process weighbridge tickets and associated paperwork
- Verify waste types, load details, and relevant permits or licences
- Ensure correct vehicle routing within the site
Administrative & Reporting Tasks
- Accurately enter data into the weighbridge system or site management software
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly reports as required
- Maintain records for waste transfer notes and Duty of Care documentation
- File documentation in line with company and regulatory standards
Customer & Driver Liaison
- Greet and direct drivers, customers, and contractors in a professional manner
- Provide instructions on site rules, safety procedures, and unloading points
- Resolve basic queries and escalate issues where necessary
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure operations comply with the Environmental Agency, EA/SEPA, and Waste Duty of Care requirements
- Follow all health & safety rules, PPE usage, and site procedures
- Report hazards, accidents, or non-compliant loads immediately
General Support
- Coordinate with yard staff, transport teams, and office personnel
- Monitor vehicle movements to prevent congestion or safety risks
- Assist with stock control / waste movement reporting if required
Skills & Experience Required
- Previous experience in a weighbridge, waste, logistics, or transport environment (desirable)
- Good numeracy and data entry accuracy
- Confident using weighbridge software or similar systems
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and remain calm under pressure
