A leading company in the transport sector is seeking a Transport Manager to oversee daily operations and manage resources at various depots. The role involves ensuring compliance with transport legislation, supervising a team of drivers, and maintaining strong communication with customers and various departments. Manage day-to-day operation of the weighbridge function and transport plan. Manage resources available at relevant sites and depots under your control.
Key accountabilities
Process vehicles and resources daily.
Maintain relevant database records for all resource requirements.
Ensure the centralized transport plan is met.
Ensure drivers follow instructions and procedures as outlined in the drivers' folder.
Manage drivers' day-to-day activities.
Coordinate with maintenance facilities, works, and central planning departments.
Maintain good industrial relations, including disciplinary procedures.
Keep company vehicles clean inside and out.
Conduct site inductions as required.
Follow all IMS procedures related to work activities.
Record and investigate customer complaints.
Analyze all drivers' tachographs.
Manage fleet and driver resources efficiently and cost-effectively daily.
Coordinate with customers, drivers, and departments to ensure timely delivery processing.
Job requirements
Knowledge of transport legislation.
Ability to manage a team of drivers.
Strong computer skills.
Ability to prioritize and make decisions discreetly.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Flexible, committed, and able to work rotating shifts.
Education/Qualifications
Understanding of working time directive regarding driver tachograph hours.
Numerate and literate.
Employees may be required to perform other duties as reasonably assigned.
