Qualifications

  • Understanding needs related to homelessness and mental health.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments.

Role Overview:

The Safestop is a 12 Bed plus 1 Pace bed unit in the south of Manchester accommodating young people from the ages of 16-22 years. We provide support to young people in a safe setting where they can access support. The support we offer ranges from one to one support sessions, help with obtaining education, training and employment as well as maximising income. We work closely with a wellbeing and programmes team to offer a rounded package to the people that we accommodate.

We have a fantastic opportunity for an individual who is interested in working with us asWeekend Young People Support Worker. This exciting job will avail you the opportunity to manage a caseload of clients, addressing their physical, emotional, social and behavioural needs; supporting them to progress towards independence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of clients in the service at all times possible including using Safeguarding and emergency alert procedures as applicable,
  • Lead on risk and needs assessment and support planning for your key clients and contribute to ongoing needs and risk assessment of other clients in the service.
  • Deliver one-to one and group support opportunities within their accommodation and in the local community aimed at increasing resilience in the clients we work with.
  • Proactively work in partnership with multiple agencies including statutory teams, to support the well being of Depaul clients in accordance with data protection and information
  • sharing protocols.

Please note that this job opportunity is offered as a part-time (25 hours a week), permanent role.Candidate selection and interview will be conducted on a rolling basis and we may close the application early due to high volumes of candidates.

What We Are Looking For – Person Specification:

  • Experience of working with young people or those who have experienced homelessness.
  • An understanding of the needs of people who have experienced homelessness, poor mental health, substance misuse
  • A knowledge and understanding of Risk Assessments and Support Planning.
  • Able to demonstrate clear understanding of safeguarding requirements and procedures
