Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Weekend Welder at its Stockton facility. This part-time, weekend-only role offers a 24-month fixed-term assignment with shift schedules across Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, delivering 36 hours weekly with a 23% premium. The pay rate is 18.98 per hour for Days shifts.

Location: Stockton (TS18 3SD). Responsibilities include welding heavy-duty fixtures using MIG and MMA processes, reading blueprints, and maintaining strict tolerances and safety standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding or equivalent time-served apprenticeship.
• Proven industrial experience in MIG and MMA welding.
• Strong blueprint reading skills and ability to weld to tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Build and weld heavy-duty fixtures and assemblies to tight tolerances.
• Work using MIG and MMA welding processes to high engineering standards.
• Follow standard work procedures while maintaining safety standards.
• Collaborate with production teams and take ownership of tasks.
• Perform manual handling and lifting in line with safety guidelines.
• Conduct detailed quality checks to ensure fault-free output on every weld.

Job Type: Temporary - ongoing (24-month fixed-term assignment)

Pay Rates: Days: 18.98 per hour

WEEK 1: Friday 12:30pm-7pm, Saturday 7am-7pm, Sunday 7am-7pm

WEEK 2: Friday 6:45am - 10:45am, Saturday 7am-7pm, Sunday 7am-7pm

Weekly Paid 36 hours weekly (23% Premium)

Key Responsibilities

• Build and weld heavy-duty fixtures and assemblies to strict, tight tolerances.

• Follow standard work procedures strictly while maintaining a zero-compromise attitude toward workplace safety.
• Collaborate effectively with production teams while taking full ownership of independent work tasks.
• Perform standard manual handling and lifting in line with safety guidelines.
• Conduct detailed quality checks to ensure fault-free output on every weld.

Required

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding (or equivalent time-served apprenticeship).
• Experience: Proven industrial experience in MIG and MMA welding.
• Skills: Strong blueprint reading skills and ability to weld to tight tolerances.
• Flexibility: Full availability to work across Days, Backs, and Night shift rotations.

• Previous experience in heavy engineering or automotive manufacturing environments.
