Job summary

Caterpillar in Stockton is seeking a weekend welder for a part-time, temporary role on a 24-month fixed-term assignment at TS18 3SD. You will weld heavy-duty fixtures using MIG and MMA processes, with weekend shifts and a 36-hour week, offering a balanced work/life schedule.

The role provides a clear path to potential permanent Caterpillar contracts, plus on-site health and well-being facilities and access to Randstad benefits.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding (or equivalent time-served apprenticeship).
• Industrial experience in MIG/MMA welding.
• Strong blueprint reading and ability to weld to tight tolerances.
• Willing to work across Days, Backs and Night shift rotations.

Responsibilities

• Build and weld heavy-duty fixtures and assemblies to strict tolerances.
• Use MIG and MMA welding processes to high engineering standards.
• Follow standard work procedures with a safety-first approach.
• Collaborate with production teams and take ownership of tasks.

Weekend Welder (Part Time)

Part time weekend welder roles available at Caterpillar's award winning Stockton facility! Part time hours offered to suit a calmer pace of life and a great work/life balance.

Job Type: Temporary - ongoing (24-month fixed-term assignment)

Location: Stockton (TS18 3SD)

Pay Rates: Days: £18.98 per hour

WEEK 1: Friday 12:30pm-7pm, Saturday 7am-7pm, Sunday 7am-7pm

WEEK 2: Friday 6:45am - 10:45am, Saturday 7am-7pm, Sunday 7am-7pm

Weekly Paid 36 hours weekly (23% Premium)

Key Responsibilities

• Build and weld heavy-duty fixtures and assemblies to strict, tight tolerances.
• Work using both MIG and MMA welding processes to high engineering standards.
• Follow standard work procedures strictly while maintaining a zero-compromise attitude toward workplace safety.
• Collaborate effectively with production teams while taking full ownership of independent work tasks.
• Perform standard manual handling and lifting in line with safety guidelines.
• Conduct detailed quality checks to ensure fault-free output on every weld.

Required:

• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Fabrication and Welding (or equivalent time-served apprenticeship).
• Experience: Proven industrial experience in MIG and MMA welding.
• Skills: Strong blueprint reading skills and ability to weld to tight tolerances.
• Flexibility: Full availability to work across Days, Backs, and Night shift rotations.

• Previous experience in heavy engineering or automotive manufacturing environments.
